I’ve had some questions about the color quiz above, so I thought I’d answer them in one fell swoop. Orbit came up with the idea with the hope *nudge nudge* that people would share their results and spread the word about The Black Prism coming out on August 25th. I helped with the design of the quiz (based on tests prospective drafters in The Black Prism undergo), and I wrote the questions, answers, and brief description of magic in this new world I’ve created. Then Orbit handled the art and the coding–for which I am forever grateful. For the sake of not having this quiz take too long, things are a bit simplified from what you’ll find in the book, but we hope you’ll really enjoy it!
If you’re curious about how things might have turned out if you answered differently, please feel free to take it more than once.

LOVE the Night Angel series! Can’t wait for Black Prism! You are a fantastic author. You create a totally believeable world filled with “living, breathing” characters. Thank you so much for the lil bit of escapism. Sometimes that makes a difference when life just isn’t cooperating.

Sub-red superchromat here. I am guessing there will be further clarification inyour book about what each does and how patrons and the order works so I am really looking forward to my book arriving!
I do think it is a pity that those of us in Australia have to wait a little longer but do understand that we are soooo far away. Good luck with the launch!

This was a cool quiz, and I cant wait for the book. I’m trying to discover all the Drafting Colors. So far I’ve found Sub-Red, Yellow, and Blue. But I’m always a Superchromat.

I won’t take the quiz until later because I want to learn everything through the book. I preordered it off Amazon and recieved it today…? The 16th? Even though there’s still more than a week until the release date…? Very very very excited to read it nonetheless!!

We need to talk about this. I’m not sure I like the squealing little fangirl I become when any of your stuff gets mentioned in any context. I manage to keep my geek cool at all sorts of dorky things, but your books… The whole “What Color Is Your Magic” quiz thing posted on Facebook didn’t help matters either. Thanks for outing me to all of my Facebook friends. I squealed. Out loud. And on my Facebook status as I announced to the world I was a Green Superchromat.
P.S. – If you decide to come East Coast, come to Dragon*Con on Labor Day Weekend one year. I bet many of your East Coast fans will be there!
